10 Reasons Why You Should Consider Studying Abroad

If studying overseas is on your mind and you are diffident about convincing your parents or yourself, here we list down some of the pre-eminent grounds on why devoting a semester or year overseas is a bright and lively thing to do.

1. Refined Employment Opportunities:

Looking forward to creating the best impression on potential employers? Companies across the globe continue to invest in the international market, and prefer to recruit employees who possess an all-embracing experience. Needless to mention the knowledge of a second language. Your resume will create a distinctive conception from all the contendors applying for the same position.

2. Diversify Your Knowledge:

By signing up for a study abroad program, you get the chance to experience an aspect of your persona that you may not have been exposed to at your native habitat. You’ll realize that engaging yourself to the fullest in the education system of your host country is an excellent way to really experience and comprehend its natives, their traditions, and their culture. Education acts as the focal point of any study overseas trip.

3. It Can Be Easy On Your Pocket:

Subjective to your school, tuition fees may remain consistent. Furthermore, there are options available like funding in the form of grants and scholarships. In fact some countries allow you to study abroad for much less than how you’d imagine overseas education to cost.

4. Personal Development:

International education breaks you out of your comfort zone and challenges you with uncommon experiences that make you reconsider or strengthen your values. You get a better sense of who you are and what is important. You get the opportunity to discover what you want out of life and become a more independent individual. A foreign land travel reveals your true potentials.

5. Learn Foreign Languages:

Language teachers suggest that in order to learn a language quickly and effectively you need to adapt to the culture. Mastering a foreign language opens up all kinds of new opportunities. As globalization brings the world together, it’s important to be competent in more than one language.

6. Acquire New Skills:

When you study overseas, you can take up courses you don’t get the opportunity to take in your home land. In addition to university classes, you can explore new hobbies or sports that aren’t as favoured (or even possible) to practice. Traveling outside your home country is a pedagogy in itself, learning to interact with and navigate through a culture different from your own.

7. Mould Lifelong Memories:

Most students who study abroad claim that their time overseas was the best learning experience. You meet new friends who will yearn to share their culture, ideas, and learn about yours. Create lasting memories and develop life-long friendships.

8. Experience Diversified Cultures:

Engulfing yourself in a totally different culture is powerful. You will experience things like trying different cuisines, celebrating traditional customs, and learning the history of another country. A person’s culture bespeaks deep perceptions, beliefs, and values that influence their way of life. You’ll gain an understanding of this that cannot be taught in books.

9. Expand Your Worldview:

Formerly held beliefs about foreign countries are bound to change once you’ve been abroad. However you’ll gain a completely new impression of your own country too. It can be surprising just how much you know is slightly biased, based on where you are from. It is also an unique opportunity to educate others on your country, eliminating their stereotypes about you!

10. Earn Money:

You can also earn while studying abroad. English being the international language of business and an important language, many foreigners wish to learn it. You can get paid for teaching, interpreting or translating English while studying abroad and ease your study and stay revenues.

Why Students Looking to Study Abroad Should not Panic

Students onboard their journey to study abroad were left in a tizzy due to the current pandemic. While it is natural to feel lost it is important to not panic. As India’s leading overseas education consultants, Edwise is the perfect place to receive up-to-date information on the current happenings in the field of overseas education. As your most trusted agency, we ensure that we provide you with a plethora of options and stepping stones in these uncertain times.

Whilst nothing can be compared to the traditional means of education, attending classes in person had its own perks. However, uncertain times call for innovative solutions, and students at their disposal have just that.

Hybrid Classes

Universities across the globe are looking at the hybrid model of education. Meaning students will be met with an amalgamation of online as well as offline classes. Not only does this ensure the safety of students but enhances certain character traits in them. Students who are expected to complete a certain proportion of their classes online can see themselves becoming more independent and committed.

Measures Undertaken by universities

Universities throughout the world are undertaking measures to ensure that whilst the education prospects of students are not halted their health also remains a priority. Large student gathering is prohibited and students when being attending their classes on campus will be required to adhere to social distancing norms. Certain universities are also offering quarantine facilities to its students. Moreover, the curriculum has also been updated to ensure that it can be seamlessly taught through the online framework. Students are supported through all possible means of support to ensure that their education prospects continue.

What should students do

The number one question on a large number of minds is what are students expected to do. Our biggest advice to students would be to remain calm and continue making applications. With online classes being heavily advocated by universities, one must consider the same since it doesn’t halt the education prospects of students. Those students looking to make an application in 2021 are to remain optimistic since it is expected that the situation may streamline till then. A temporary hurdle is what students are met with this they are urged to make the best out of the situation. With vaccine trials being undertaken on a war footing across the globe, everyone is waiting with bated breath for good news.

Students should undertake the decision of deferring their applications carefully after weighing the impact it will have on their profile. With online classes, students will have immense time in hand to undertake ancillary activities or engage in part-time work which will help them illuminate their application.

Digital learning is going to be the future and students must get with the times and prepare for what lays ahead of them.

Entry Requirements

Taking the current situation into account, universities have undertaken several measures to ensure that the application process of students can be as seamless as possible. Duolingo is being used as a method to test the English language proficiency of students. Moreover, certain application waivers have also been put in place to ensure convenience for students. Certain universities are also offering provisional offers to students, enabling them to submit certain documents at a later stage. Some universities have gone the extra mile and are conducting internal examinations to test the English language proficiency of students. Another novel solution is that some universities are looking at the scores attained in the said subject to determine the eligibility level. It is best that the student gets in touch with us, to receive the latest updates on the specific entry requirements of a university under consideration.

With application deadline likely to get extended students are urged to keep their applications going. Certain study abroad destinations have kept their post-study work rights intact while some are still in the midst of making a decision.

However, at the end of the day whether or not you want to study abroad is a personal decision that you need to undertake after weighing all the pros and cons. Universities abroad along with the assistance of the government are undertaking all the necessary steps to ensure that the needs of international students are protected. It is expected that things will normalize soon. It would be quite detrimental to decide against studying abroad. The best you can do is wait and watch to see how the situation normalizes.

To ensure that you are not met with this issue on your journey abroad, it is best to plan ahead of time and lay a plan of action. Research goes a long way and this will help you ensure that you have a smooth experience abroad.

Here are some tips on how you can have an enjoyable experience abroad and at the same time manage your budget. Outline a Strategy Depending on what suits you the best, make a weekly or monthly budget. List all the expenses that you are expecting to incur and list down provisions of how you are going to manage the same. It is great to plan your meals in advance and buy groceries ahead of time. Make sure that you also take into consideration the cost you will incur when traveling. It is best to take a pass and many services offer discounts to international students.

Making a Budget As mentioned earlier, it is important that you set a budget. Planning your expenses ahead of time will go a long way in helping you. Don’t treat your budget like a piece of paper and make sure that you adhere to the same. It is important that you incorporate provisions for any unforeseen circumstances. Visit Local Stores Its rightly said that familiarity breeds contempt. It is natural to be drawn towards international stores and brands that you have earlier heard about. However, when in Rome be like the Romans. Keeping this thought in mind it becomes necessary that you interact with the locals. Visit the local stores, these stores tend to have great discounts and also offer great produce. It is likely that you have a local store near your accommodation, make sure to visit them. Since it is a local store you can expect to receive cheap products.

As an international student set on the endeavour to study abroad, make sure you don’t splurge on outside food. By visiting these local stores, you not only ensure yourself economically, quality products but can make sensible decisions. Buy some of the staples that you need which will help plan meals at home. These stores also tend to have happy hours, so make sure to check them out as well. Use Apps As mentioned earlier, make sure to use passes that a range of transportation facilities offer. One such card includes the Oyster Card, which is a payment method for when using transportation facilities in London. Likewise, several study abroad destinations have their individual facilities. Moreover, several restaurants, shops and, a range of other establishments also have their own apps. These interactions go a long way and come in handy when undertaking networking activities. It is rightly said that the connections you make at this stage in your life come in handy in your professional endeavours. Thus, it is very important that you indulge in going out, ordering takeaway and have fun as an when it permits. Other ancillary factors to consider are exchange rates, interacting with locals and curating your bank account.

In most cases, your current local bank will have an international outlet as well. Keep a track of what your spending are. As an international student, you are likely to undertake part-time work as well. Part-time jobs are not only important because they allow you to put the knowledge you learnt in the classroom to practical use, but it also allows you to earn some extra money. The exposure you gain whilst working in a foreign country is unparalleled.

Online Classes: The New Future

The idea of the traditional means of education has radically transformed over the past few months. With the onset of the COVID-19 and rise in technological facilities, students are now required to study from their homes. Students who had decided to study abroad were either required to return home or stay back in their destination countries and complete the reminder of their courses online. Current Scenario At least temporarily, until things pan out and go back to normal, students are required to commence their programs online. Universities as well as the government are providing all possible means of support to international students. Students are reassured that they can commence certain proportion of their classes online and once thing go back to normal, move to their study destination. Moreover, universities have also informed students that this will not have a detrimental effect on their visa status and they will still be eligible for the post study wok rights. Support Offered by Universities in Australia and several other destinations are offering all forms of support, from laptops to internet modems. They are providing all means of support that will allow students to complete their courses online. To make sure that the interactive nature of the classes stay intact, online classes are incorporating mediums of discussions, so that the classes continue to remain reciprocal. Flexibility Online classes in some cases are more flexible when compared to the traditional mediums.

Students may be given the preference to either set their own preference and work according to their schedule or work according to university timings. Flexibility allows students to incorporate time management skills, while on the other hand working according to a schedule allows one to be deterministic in their approach. Selection of Courses Certain universities in Canada are allowing students to switch their courses and study those courses that are offered online in case the program of their choice is not offered through the online medium. Accessibility With internet connectivity reaching each one of us, online classes become easy to attend. With an internet connectivity you are able to access online classes easily. Saves Time A major plus point of attending an online class is that it helps save on time. The time that you would earlier spend getting to and from class, with everything in between, means that you lost out on a significant amount of time. However, that will not be the case once you decide to enter the world of online classes. With just having to login to study, you leave yourself with a considerable amount of time to attend your online class Saves Money When compared to the traditional medium of education, online classes are significantly cheaper.

If you had decided to attain an education abroad but are now required to undertake an online class you will save a considerable amount of money in terms of travel and accommodation, which helps bring down the cost of your education to a considerable level. Faculty Just because you are attending an online class doesn’t mean that you will be speaking to a screen. Faculty members are equally involved in these classes and conduct lectures with the same amount of enthusiasm as they did with the traditional mediums. The faculty also remains extremely proactive in solving all doubts and make sure to put their best foot forward in order for the students to have a smooth experience through the online medium. Learning Resources As a student you should be well aware of the various resources that are available online that allows them to have access to a considerable amount of information. Online Classes at Study Abroad Destinations USA has always been renowned for its online courses. And even before the outbreak occurred, a considerable number of courses were conducted online.

Online classes are heavily advocated by universities in Canada, the major advantage students receive from attending these courses is that they can begin their classes on time, and that to from the comfort of their homes. Online classes will also have no effect on the Post Study Work right of students. The process of attaining education abroad is a bag of mixed emotions, the excitement and nervousness all come as a part and parcel of the overall experience. However, as a prospective international student, there are certain aspects that you must consider.

The experience you have in a foreign country is much more than the education you attain, there are certain skills that also get harnessed in the process. You must ensure that you capitalize on these opportunities that will enable you to have a fruitful experience abroad.

Communication

One of the major benefits of studying abroad is the opportunity to get to interact with international students. Interacting with students from all corners of the world will enable you to hone your communication skills. Tackling all these barriers will help increase your confidence and you will come out as an enhanced student. An important trait that a significant number of employers look for in their candidates is the ability to communicate effectively. Once it brought to light that you have attained an education abroad, the confidence that an employer has in your skills automatically increases.

Networking

A part and parcel of your communication activities is your networking experience. The connections you make at the university level go a long way in the future. Interacting with the faculty as well as with alumni will help you later. Make sure to forge these connections, because when you dive into the professional sphere yourself, these may come in handy.

Cultural Acceptance

Respect and appreciation of other’s culture have become the need of the hour. With an increasingly globalised nature of the market, students are expected to become global citizens. And there is no better way to become a global citizen than to be in a global environment, and education abroad provides you just that. When you study abroad you become increasingly aware of several communities which enable you to hone your skills.

Adaptability

Being away from your loved ones, and being in a foreign land yourself is an excellent way to enhance your skills. Since you have put yourself out of your comfort zone, you will be expected to enhance your adaptability skills. Being in a foreign country enables students to become independent and diligent. Someone who is used to having things done for themselves will find it an arduous task to be by themselves, however, education abroad is all about that experience. Becoming flexible in your approach will come in handy in your professional endeavours.

Problem Solving

Since you have decided to study abroad you will be expected to fend for yourself. Which means you become responsible for your own actions. Therefore, when a problem strikes it will become the need of the hour that you find a solution for the same. Thus, working for the same, it is natural that your problem-solving skills will get enhanced.

Team Work

When at a university abroad, students are expected to deal with a significant task at hand. These tasks in many cases usually include assignments. In some cases, these assignments may be individual or in some cases may require you to work in a group. Working in a group enables you to harness your team-building skills. This also teaches you that apart from considering one’s own perspective it becomes equally important that you also consider an opposite person’s perspective. Exchanging ideas, put your points across the table and coming up with a range of creative solutions to a problem at hand are skills you learn. Therefore, when working in a team, you are preparing yourself for the professional environment where you will be expected to work with a diverse group of people at hand.

At the end of the day, an education abroad allows you to assess your own strength and weakness and teaches you to work on the same. It also enables you to understand your own capabilities all of which will go a long way in your future endeavours.

Popular Courses

Nearly every imaginable field of study has made its footings in Canada. However, few of the most sought-after programs include Computer Science, Information Technology, Healthcare, Telecommunication, Engineering, and Business to name a few.

Safe Environment

One of the friendliest people in the world, Canadians are extremely welcoming to international students. Listed amongst the top 10 safest countries in the world, safety is offered along with a high standard of living. A multicultural society, the Canadians welcome the culture brought by the immigrants with open arms. Therefore, don’t be surprised when you see an eatery from your home country. A diverse country, it makes sure that the rights of all its citizens are well guarded and protected. As an international student, it is important for you to note the country has two primary languages which are namely English and French.

Professional Experience

Whilst ensuring that the best quality education is imparted to its students, universities in Canada also ensure that equal importance is provided to the practical learning aspects.  As a full-time student, universities in Canada will make you eligible to work off-campus without a work permit for up to 20 hours per week and full-time during course break. Study in Canada also includes a paid co-op term where students can attain the experience of working in the industry. In some cases, these may also be paid. After the completion of the student’s program, they can work for up to 3 years depending upon the duration of the program.

Post-Study Work Rights

Canada receives over 3 lakh immigrants every year. If students have Canadian Credentials and work experience, they are eligible to apply for permanent residency without having to leave the country. Students can apply for permanent residency which takes up to 15-18 months from within the country. However, to do so they are required to meet the minimum eligibility criteria of 67 points.

Services to International Students

Certain provinces in Canada, provide students with health insurance to ensure that the health and well being of the students is protected. Hurdles of selecting the perfect course to study abroad

One of the most critical components of your journey to study abroad is selecting the perfect course. You have to put in a great deal of time and effort to ensure that you pick a course that fits your inclinations the best. Selecting the perfect course hold immense significance in your future since it’s on the basis of your attained education that you will be able to climb the ladder of professional success. You don’t want to be stuck in a wave of confusion. Thus, to ensure that you have an enjoyable experience abroad it is necessary that you put in a great deal of thought when choosing your course.

Trust your Instincts

The foremost consideration to undertake when making the decision to study a course is your inclinations. It is important that you take into consideration what you are good at. Whilst a significant number of us have faced the issues of having to study a said course only because our parents wanted us to, it is time to break out of those shackles. Parents are increasingly becoming receptive to the needs of their children and are enabling them to trust their guts. It is best to have a discussion with them in regards to your aspirations for the future and how studying the said course will let you get there. At the end of the day, you must remember that every parent wants what is best for their child. Whilst making this decision, it is important to also consider the future prospects of your field of study.

Research

This cannot be emphasized enough, but research is the most important aspect of your decision-making process. Before embarking upon this journey, it is important that you consider what your likes and dislikes are. Don’t stop at just that, go one step further. Understand as why you are inclined towards a certain aspect. This will enable you to determine where your strengths lie. Once you have an understanding of where your strengths lie it will be easy for you to determine which course to study.

Financial Constraints

Another major hurdle that a large number of students face is finance. It is invariable that your journey to attain an education abroad is going to burn a hole in your pocket. However, it is important to not lose sight of the many advantages it possesses. Therefore, when taking into consideration an array of factors you must ensure to pay heed to the financial aspect as well. Analyze the various funding avenues that you have at your disposal and make appropriate preparations for the same. There is a range of funding avenues for overseas education that a student can consider such as scholarships, grants, loans, bursaries and much more. If you required to make an application for a scholarship, make sure that you have adhered to the deadline.

Social Aspects

Another factor that students need to consider is the social constraints. Certain societies refrain from sending their children outside. However, through the times’ people are becoming more accepting of the concept of education abroad and have come to terms with the many benefits it possesses. An additional hurdle that students often face is the expectation of having to stay back at their study abroad destination. People are of the widespread opinion that students should settle in the country that sought to study in. However, it is important that you undertake your own decision. If you wish to return to your home country and put to use the knowledge gained abroad here, then follow your instincts. On the other hand, if you wish to stay back then do so. Therefore, it is important to remember that you must undertake a decision that is best suited for your career prospects.

Eligibility Hurdles

Another obstacle you may face are entry requirements. Universities abroad expect students to possess certain years of education. Moreover, students are also expected to appear for entrance exams. These include those such as the SAT/ACT/GRE/GMAT or English language proficiency tests such as the IELTS/TOEFL/PTE. Make sure that you look at the entry requirements of the specific course of the application enabling you to adhere to the same.

Like these, there may be other hurdles that you face, however, Edwise India’s leading overseas education consultants help you through the entire journey to study abroad.

10 Things You Will Understand When You Start Living Alone

It's not as easy or fun as it seems...

It's hard to argue with the fact that there is no greater feeling than living on your own. The sense of freedom and independence that you get once you move out from a sheltered environment is exhilarating. The only person you are answerable to is you alone! So, if you have recently fled the nest and are living alone, here are certain things you will understand.

1. ANYTIME IS PARTY TIME!

You don't need your parents' permission to host your friends over. So whether it's a mid-week night cap or a crazy Saturday night party, you have the freedom to host an impromptu jig, anytime.

2. THAT ALSO MEANS ONLY YOU HAVE TO CLEAN UP AFTER YOUR PARTY

Since you won't be living with your folks, Mommy won't help clear the mess and neither will your younger siblings. Your friends would probably refuse to help too. So, it wouldbe just you and your handy broom that will have to tackle amessy room.

3. EAT WHAT YOU WANT

Eat anything your heart desires without worrying about what your parents will say. Every night can be pizza night and you can easily replace water with wine because -No.More.Nagging!

4. BUY GROCERIES AND COOK YOUR FOOD

This also means you will have to buy the groceries and instant noodles seem like a good idea but you can't eat them every day , right? The day you do decide to eat home cooked food, you will have to buy the groceries, wash them and probably cut them yourself too.

5. NO DISTURBANCE WHILE SLEEPING

Wake up and sleep when you want to, because there isno one noting everything that you are doing. You can also go for a sleep marathon.

6. RISK GETTING LATE TO WORK

Living on your own can also mean there would be no one to wake you up if you overslept. Because since `there is no one noting everything that you are doing', you will probably be late for work almost every single day.

7. HAVE YOUR OWN WAY WITH DECOR

You can decorate your house the way you want too. If you want to replace all bulbs with fairy lights, you can do it without any interference.

8. YOU WILL HAVE TO MULTI-TASK AS A PLUMBER, ELECTRICIAN AS WELL

You will have to worry about other little things, like theplumbing and electrical fittings of your house. From yourelectrical wires to taps and pipes, everything will be your responsibility now. It's safe to say that living alone is not an easy task. While on the surface of it, it may seem like all fun andgames but in reality, it's so much more than that. So, takethe first step in making the transaction towards living alone easier.

9. BUY THE STUFF YOURSELF

If you want your house to look like the way you want itto, it also means that you will have to buy everything youwant to decorate your house with. From utensils to lights, everything will have to be bought on your own!

10. YOU CAN DO THE HOUSEKEEPING AT YOUR PACE

You don't have to worry about the little things, like cleaning a cupboard. You can do it when and if you have some leisure time.

Purpose of Giving English Proficiency Tests

English is the official language in many parts of the world. Many international students are required to take an English language exam in order to gain entrance into a College or University. A primary challenge for international applicants seeking to work or study overseas is the ability to speak English. Strong skills are needed in writing, speaking and understanding English in order to work or study abroad.

English language tests are required by universities, immigration departments, professional bodies and employers. The experience of studying abroad is academically satisfying. It is also an excellent way to experience other countries’ culture through education and immersion. By taking a focused academic English language exam, you will learn the right kind of skills to succeed in your studies.

Academic English language exams develop real-life English language communication skills, in addition to a range of practical academic skills. There are a number of reasons why taking an English language test is helpful; Educational institutions require certain English language requirements for admission into universities; immigrants need to show they can use the English language in communicating with others. While some take the test just to know their level of English.

More schools are developing English as a Second Language program to support the increasing numbers of international students. There are a number of English language tests that are accepted by schools and institutions across English speaking nations. The exam commonly used throughout the United Kingdom, Canada, Ireland, and New Zealand is the IELTS. This English language exam is jointly managed by the University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations, the British Council and IDP Education Pty Limited: IELTS Australia. While the most commonly accepted test in Northern American Universities is the TOEFL, this exam tests one’s ability to understand North American English as it is spoken, written, and heard. The TOEFL exam is administered by the Educational Testing Service. The Pearson Test of English Academic is another English language test that is now widely accepted in a number of countries. It tests English language abilities in a three-hour exam, which involves a number of real-life settings. In this test, students will be listening to a range of accents and academic language which they are likely to encounter at English-speaking institutes.

Since there are a number of English tests available, it can be hard to decide on a particular one. While some are more widely accepted than others, ensuring that you choose the right test is just as important. Measure your English level before you choose a test, keeping in mind the test requirements of the University.

What Edwise Students Say...

“I clearly remember the day I started my TOEFL coaching, after seeing the different sections of TOEFL I was sure I won't pass the test. But my faculty's support and personalized attention helped me. TOEFL being an internet based test, practice was very important. Edwise provided me with number of mock tests which boosted my confidence. I thank the entire Edwise team for the same.”
Shabbir Khambati - TOEFL Coaching

“My TOEFL class here at Edwise has been started great. I have experienced good changes in my performance. Good attention is given on individual students and the students weakest points are worked upon really well. Totally satisfied! My faculty is awesome teacher and a guide. Learned a lot of things and would surely look forward to my bright future. Thank you Edwise.”
Reshmi Bhaduri – TOEFL Coaching

“The Edwise mock test for the PTE was amazing and really helped me understand the format of the test and the coaching helped me to thoroughly prepare for the test."
Saher - PTE Coaching

“I am writing this testimonial to Edwise International and especially to my tutor for PTE. I was tensed before giving my PTE exam because I got my passport late and I had to clear the exam in a single attempt. I explained the situation to her. She helped me a lot. Those two sessions were really very very crucial for me as I scored 77/90 in PTE with 90/90 in speaking. This score has also helped me in getting a part time job in Australia as well. My tutor was very calm, understanding, I am really thankful to Edwise and for the overall experience with a Coaching Dept.”
Siddhesh Lad - PTE Coaching

“I am very thankful to Edwise for helping me score an 8.0 band in my IELTS. I joined the IELTS classes with a lot of apprehensions. But from the first class itself I felt extremely comfortable. The faculty here has provided me with personal training and this has helped me clear my examination with flying colors. I would once again like to thank the entire staff of Edwise who helped my dream come true.”
Shruti Preman - IELTS Coaching

“My experience with Edwise was very good, my counselor was very helpful. I had given IELTS and had taken coaching from Edwise.”
Nazia Parekh - IELTS Coaching

“My experience with Edwise coaching was very good! I started coaching with 5 other students and with no appropriate knowledge or idea about IELTS, its procedures and protocols. My faculty was a boon to us by giving us not only the thorough insight of the IELTS, but made it a fun process for us. To me personally, I couldn't have expected a better teacher for it. The faculty at Edwise not just makes us feel involved, but gives us a good support especially in disciplines that we lack in. The teaching pedalogy at Edwise helps us find our strengths and weakness & ace the exams. The job and concern not just ends after IELTS, but also follows up with us on our exam and our results.”
Vizak Gagrat -IELTS Coaching

“After enrolling in Edwise I felt that I am at the right place to pursue further higher education, because the knowledge and the guidance given by the faculty here gave me a positive look towards my goal. The coaching was well planned and proper attention was given by the faculty guiding me. I have already suggested few of my friends to go forward with IELTS through Edwise coaching.”

The students are given about 25 questions of Problem Solving and Quantitative Comparison types to solve in class. The teachers remain in class while the students solve these problems, and guide them if they face any difficulty. Home assignments are given, and include approximately the same number of questions. Towards the end of each session, time is devoted to discuss difficulties of previous home assignments.

The Verbal part starts with a detailed introduction to different question types such as Reading Comprehension and Discrete Questions, practice exercises are then assigned from the GRE Official Guide. After completion of individual exercises, our teachers engage in a detailed discussion with the students in order to understand the reasoning and approach followed by them, and in turn guides them with the proper approach.

The Essay topics for the GRE are chosen from the official pool, and are then discussed with the students. After these essays are discussed, guidelines are given for the composition of these essays.

Advantages & Challenges of Studying Abroad

March 2016

For many students, going away to college is the first time that they will live away from their parents or hometown. University life affords freedom, independence, and an opportunity to gain life skills that will be used your day to day life while this certainly is a major event, getting the most out of your college experience may involve going beyond your university’s campus.
Study Abroad
Off-campus volunteer and work opportunities may be the farthest you’ll want to venture from your college campus. But you may want to consider studying abroad.

Studying abroad offers a unique opportunity to grow academically, professionally, and personally while going on a once-in-a-lifetime adventure. There are a number of other benefits to studying abroad; however, there are also numerous challenges. Consider the pros and cons, and decide if studying abroad may be right for you.

Advantages of Studying Abroad

Experience a Foreign Culture

Visiting foreign lands in person, however, is an entirely different experience. When you study abroad, you participate in the day-to-day life of a new locale, gaining first-hand understanding and new appreciation of the culture.

Improve Your Second Language Skills

You may already be fluent in a second language, or you might study abroad in one of the many countries where English is spoken as a first language. However, studying abroad can provide you with a perfect opportunity to learn a new foreign language.

Being surrounded by native speakers affords you the chance to immerse yourself in the language, which can expedite your retention and fluency. Furthermore, if you travel to a country in which the primary language is one you’ve studied in school, you can add to your vocabulary colloquial words and phrases that may not appear in the textbooks.

Explore Your Own Heritage

Students whose familial heritage stems from abroad will often choose to explore their ethnicity and ancestry. In fact, reports show that minority students benefit both personally and academically when they have studied abroad in the country of their family’s origin.

Pursue an Activity You Wouldn’t at Home

Studying abroad is a chance for you to be adventurous, explore the unknown, and try your hand at activities that may not be offered in your home state. For example, if you’re studying abroad in Argentina, you can try numerous adventure sports, from zip-lining, to rafting, to mountain biking. If you enjoy heights, you can try paragliding. No matter what you choose, it’s sure to be an unforgettable experience.

Learn How to Communicate Across Cultures

In today's increasingly global society, it’s important to possess the skills to communicate across cultures – and this means understanding more than just a different language. Studying abroad helps you become familiar with the customs and traditions of the country in which you are studying, in addition to the language. By interacting with locals, you can develop an appreciation for the culture and its differences from your own.

Become More Independent

Studying abroad removes you from the normal support network that you are accustomed to back home. While on the one hand, being away from friends and family can seem daunting, it is also a chance for you to hone your own skills and gain some independence.
Whether it’s washing your laundry or buying groceries, you will learn to take responsibility for your actions. When you return home, your increased independence will be very useful – it can help you in your job search, at home, or in your day-to-day routines.

Manage Your Own Finances

One major aspect of being an independent adult is having the ability to manage your own finances. Regardless of whether your study abroad program is financed by a scholarship, grant, or another source of income, chances are that it will be your responsibility to pay the bills.
Furthermore, living in a new country will help you learn and understand a new form of currency, and familiarize yourself with the various living expenses. Understanding how to manage your expenses will especially be beneficial when you no longer rely on the support of your family.

Increase Your Employment Prospects

Employers value prospective candidates with international experience, foreign language skills, and the ability to communicate across cultures. If you’re interested in pursuing a career in international relations, diplomacy, or government, these skills will be especially useful.
Use your experience studying abroad to expand your set of abilities, and make these a determining factor that will separate you from the others in a pool of applicants.

Form New and Rewarding Relationships

Without your regular support group of friends and family, you will be confronted with new situations on a daily basis. However, studying abroad offers you the chance to meet new people and form friendships that may last a lifetime.
Whether you’re living with a host family or in a student residence, make an effort to form relationships with those around you. Not only will you have someone around to console you when you are homesick, you will also know people that you can have fun with. Recreation is an important part of the studying abroad experience, and you will likely enjoy sharing your experiences much more than spending your time alone.

Network for Your Future

In addition to making friends, you can also form professional contacts while abroad. Generally speaking, course loads tend to be comparatively lighter while studying abroad, so this can be an ideal occasion to intern, work part-time or volunteer while you’re studying.
Consult your college or university to see whether they help you find internships or work placements abroad. Sometimes, you can even get credit from your home institution. When you’re finished working abroad, be sure to ask for a recommendation letter to testify that you worked abroad, and to share with future prospective employers.

Challenges to Consider

Though there are a myriad of benefits to foreign study, consider some of the drawbacks before you decide whether it’s right for you:

Homesickness Can Occur Frequently.

If you have never spent much time far from home, this could be a serious issue. You may find yourself missing the people you left back home, and the less outgoing you are the more of a problem this can become.

Academic Programs Abroad May Be Less Rigorous

Of course, this comes down to where you currently study and the program in question. Ask other students who have participated in the program you’re interested in, to see if it will be worthwhile from an academic standpoint.

It May Be Difficult to Get to Know Locals.

In some countries, the locals will be warm and inviting, while in others, it might take a little more effort to make friends. If you’re concerned, find out in advance how Americans are typically received and treated in the area.

You May Experience Culture Shock – When You Return Home.

Once you become used to a foreign environment, your home might actually seem foreign to you. This effect will be most notable when returning from countries where cultural differences from your home are numerous.

Programs Can Be Expensive

While there are study abroad scholarships opportunities specifically designed for students who wish to study abroad, you may not be eligible. Is it worth racking up more student loan debt? If you don’t qualify for a scholarship, weigh the pros and cons to make the best decision, and be sure to expand your search – consult government-sponsored initiatives for further grants, if possible.

Credits May Not Transfer

If you’re planning to conduct research abroad, be sure to mention it to your college or university, as you may be able to transfer credits to your home institution. However, credits may not always transfer. This may not matter to some students, but to others it could be vital – especially when you consider the financial costs.
