The Test of English as a Foreign Language is a standardized English proficiency test that assesses English Language skills in the areas of Reading, Listening, Writing and Speaking. Candidates who wish to pursue further studies at an undergraduate or graduate level are required to take the TOEFL to demonstrate their English proficiency. Like the other sections on the TOEFL ibt, the speaking section is delivered via computer

In the Speaking section, you will be asked to speak to on a variety of topics that draw on personal experience, campus based situations and academic material. The speaking section of the TOEFL takes approximately 20 minutes. You will be asked a total of 6 speaking tasks. The first two independent tasks will require you to draw upon your own ideas, thoughts and experiences while responding. The other four integrated tasks will assess you on how well you base your spoken response on the listening passage or on both the listening and reading passage. Response time for each question will range from 45 to 60 seconds. You will be evaluated on delivery, language use and topic development. How to Score High on the IELTS Academic Reading Test

IELTS i.e. International English Language Testing System is a standardized English proficiency test that assesses English Language skills in the areas of Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking. It is jointly owned by the British Council, IDP- Australia and University of Cambridge ESOL EXAMINATIONS.
The IELTS has two types of modules - Academic and General Training. Academic Module is required to be given by students who wish to study at an undergraduate or postgraduate level. While, General Training Module is generally a prerequisite for candidates who wish to pursue vocational studies or plan to immigrate.

There are different types of questions in the Reading test, and these test a range of reading skills that you will need for study purposes. You will be expected to find detailed or factual information, identify views, arguments and claims in addition to identifying the overall idea of the passage

Look at the questions before you start reading the text

Go through your questions before you begin reading, so you know what to be on the lookout for. When reading, ensure that you remember where certain information in the passage lies, this will help save time.

Solve more reading tests

This is the best way to prepare for the exam and will help you with the type of questions that you face a problem with. Practice will help you better prepare for each type of question. Solving practice tests will help you divide your time, so you won’t have to worry about working against time.

IELTS Test

Read the instructions carefully

Before you begin a particular task, be sure to read the instructions carefully. Most of the reading tasks that appear on the test will be similar to what you have been practicing. Make sure you don’t go over the word limit as particular questions will require you to answer the question in just one word or two.

Scanning

This is a great way to understand the main ideas of a text, and find key words easily. By scanning, you will be looking out for information that you will need to read in more detail. You should also be on the lookout for footnotes, key words and numbers in figures.

Speed Reading

The more you read, the quicker you will get at reading. It is a good idea to read texts and articles that are like the IELTS texts in terms of length and complexity. Speed reading is not just about fast reading, but on how much information you can remember when you have finished reading.
