Frequently Asked Questions- PTE Academic Test

http://www.edwiseinternational.com

PTE Academic is a computer-based test which assesses the Listening, Reading, Speaking and Writing abilities of non-native speakers of English who need to demonstrate their academic English capability - often to obtain admission at English-speaking universities, higher education institutions or as proof of their language ability for a visa application.

PTE Academic is accepted for student visas & immigration in Australia & by Universities in New Zealand.

Immigration New Zealand now officially accepts the Pearson Test of English Academic(PTE Academic) for student visa purposes.

What is the PTE Academic Test?

PTE Academic is the world's leading computer-based test of English for study abroad and immigration purposes. It is approved by the Australian government for all visa applications and accepted by thousands of institutions in the UK, Australia, USA, Canada, New Zealand and Ireland, including Harvard, Yale and INSEAD. You can register for the test online or by phone. These scores are valid for a period of 2 years

What sections does the test include?

The PTE is a 3 hour test and consists of three main parts, Speaking and Writing, Reading and Listening. There are twenty different question formats that range from multiple choices to essay writing and interpretation of information. PTE Academic assesses real- life, academic content, so you will hear excerpts from lectures, and describe the graphs and charts that you see

Do I need to be a certain age to give the PTE Academic?

You must be at least 16 years of age. If you are 16 or 17 years old, you must provide a signed parental consent form before taking the test

How many times can I take the test?

You can take PTE Academic as many times as you like. This means that institutions will not be able to see if your scores are better or worse than the previous tries. You must however, wait to receive your scores before you can book your next test

Will I know how much time I have left?

Yes, each section of the test is individually timed. You will see a timer in the top right corner of the screen counting down the remaining time

How is PTE different from the IELTS?
Although both the IELTS and PTE have the same sections, the scoring pattern for both these tests differs. The PTE Academic however, assesses speaking, listening, reading and writing as well as academic skills in an integrated way in a single 3 hour computerized test.

Who accepts the PTE Academic?

PTE Academic is accepted by thousands of universities worldwide. It is also accepted for visa purposes by the Australian government

What happens if my ID shows a different name to the one I registered with?

You will not be allowed to take the test and you will lose your test fee. If you made a mistake when registering, please contact the Pearson customer support before your test day

How long do the test results take?

Typically, PTE Academic results are available in five business days

Can I reschedule / cancel my test?

Yes, however there will be a fee charged at the time. You may receive a partial refund if you cancel your test before the appointment date

Those two sessions were really very very crucial for me as I scored 77/90 in PTE with 90/90 in speaking. This score has also helped me in getting a part time job in Australia as well. Frequently Asked Questions - TOEFL

http://www.edwiseinternational.com

What is the TOEFL Test?

If you are thinking about studying in an English speaking University, and English is not your first language, you need to take the TOEFL. Taking the TOEFL is a great way to test your level of English and is required by many Universities and Colleges, for entry into their programs

What skills are tested in the test?

There are four sections on the TOEFL; Reading, Listening, Speaking and Writing. The test measures your level of English proficiency in all four of these skills, and English-speaking institutions use your scores to determine if you would be able to succeed in their academic environment

What kinds of questions are found on the TOEFL iBT?

A major part of questions on the TOEFL iBT are multiple choice questions. There will be directions on the screen for the other types of questions

How much does the test cost?

The cost to take the TOEFL varies between countries. The cost ranges from US$150 to US$225.

How long is the testing session?

The TOEFL iBT lasts for four hours, which is inclusive of the break between the Listening and Speaking section

How long does it take to get my TOEFL score?

You will receive an email letting you know when your scores are available; TOEFL scores will be available approximately 10 days after your test date.

How long is the TOEFL score valid for?

The TOEFL score is valid for a period of 2 years

How many times can I take the TOEFL test?

You may take the TOEFL test as many times as you wish, but no more than once in any 12-day period

When should I register for the TOEFL?

You must register for the test seven days before the test date. Considering TOEFL test dates fill up quickly during the desired times, you should opt for registering for a date two to three months in advance.

Can I change the date or cancel my registration?

In order to receive a refund, you must reschedule or cancel your test three days before your test date

What is the difference between the TOEFL ITP and the TOEFL iBT?

The test skills differ in both the TOEFL ITP and TOEFL iBT. The TOEFL ITP is a paper- based test and uses 100 percent academic content to evaluate the English-language proficiency of non-native English speakers. All questions are multiple choice and students answer questions on an answer sheet. Test skills are evaluated in three areas: Listening, Writing and Reading.

The TOEFL IBT test is an internet based test, and is administered via the Internet; it is an important part for study in an English speaking country. The skills measured here are: Listening, Speaking, Reading, And Writing

What do I need to bring on the test day?

You will have to carry a valid photo ID, along with your registration confirmation which includes your registration number. No mobile devices or personal items will be allowed inside the testing room

Can I order additional score reports?

Yes you can, for a fee. Your registration fee includes the cost of sending four official score reports to universities, institutions or agencies that you select before you test.
