Canada has one of the best educational systems in the world and this combined with its wonderful multicultural cosmopolitan attitude makes this excellent destination for international students to come and further their education.

Degrees from Canadian Universities and institutes are internationally recognized, and there is a diverse range of courses on offer from marine biology through to accountancy. Canada Universities also has a number of excellent opportunities for language courses, and you can choose between both French and English as your main language of instruction, and students often benefit from taking an additional language course alongside their main degree or diploma.

Canada is a very safe, stable country and has an excellent health care system, and the educational and living costs are relatively low compared to other English speaking countries, so this is an ideal place for international students to come and enhance their learning.

Canada University is a popular destination among the college network for international students who want to further their education and there are a number of courses and teaching establishments on offer.

Canada colleges and universities
These institutes are divided into three main types of learning establishments:
  • Community Colleges – these offer certificate and diploma courses in vocational and career training, and there are also specialist colleges of applied arts and technology. Courses can be from two to three years and there are many pre-university programs offered.
  • University Colleges – these institutes straddle the gap between Canada universities and colleges and offer a limited range of undergraduate courses (bachelor’s degrees) and also diplomas and certificates, but do not provide higher graduate programs (masters and doctorates).
  • Universities – these provide academic and professional training and research in internationally recognized degree level qualifications such as BA, BSc, MA, and MSc, PhD and so on.
Co-op is a work term provided as part and parcel of the course curriculum. It provides an excellent opportunity to students to gain first hand practical experience related to the field of specialization. Students can gain on-the-job experience while continuing to study. Co-op provides full time opportunities that last for 12 to 17 weeks.

Co-Operative work programmes, combine courses in many subjects with relevant work, giving students an invaluable head start with their careers. This assists International students in connecting with the Canadian job market and developing a network with the Canadian companies.

Tips On How Students Can Manage Their Finance While Studying Abroad.

Studying abroad is an exciting yet expensive affair. Most countries, other than the United States, allow international students to work off campus while studying. In USA Universities, international students are permitted to work on campus for a maximum of 20 hours per week. While other countries, too, have a similar limitation on the number of hours, international students are permitted to find jobs off campus as well. For instance, in Canada colleges, you can apply for a permit that allows you to work off campus for 20 hours per week during the academic session and 40 hours per week during vacations. The rules are not very different for students who wish to study in Universities in UK and Australian Universities.

By working on and off campus, you can expect to earn sufficient funds for your personal expenses and sometimes even living expenses. But very rarely will you be able to fund your entire education from this income.

Students unable to work on or off campus can always apply for funding from the university itself. Most universities in the USA and some Canadian Universities and Universities in Australia offer students graduate assistantships. It is an award which pays for your entire tuition fee as well as a monthly stipend which helps you take care of your living expenses. Students who get such assistantships can work as teaching assistants or research assistants. Assistantships are extremely competitive and are granted to students with excellent grades and, at times, to those with work experience.

If you do not land up with Assistantship or an on- or- off campus job, you can still apply to the university for merit- or- need based funding. Many Universities in Canada, UK, USA, Australia, Singapore offer scholarships to students with excellent grades. Such scholarships are evidently not only competitive but also based on need. Thus, if you can demonstrate that you actually require the funds, you may have a better chance at receiving them directly from the university. Such scholarships generally cover 10 – 75 % of the tuition fee.

Finally if you have no other choice, you can apply for education loans in India. Several banks offer education loans of up to 30 lakhs. The interest rate for these loans is around 12 % and the repayment period starts one year after the completion of the course or six months after getting a job, whichever happens earlier.

Banks in the US gives loans to international students for education in the USA without security only if a citizen or green card holder with good credit history acts as their guanrantor.A good way to fund your education is a combination of the several options listed here.

If you wish to pursue your education overseas, make sure that you plan your finances before applying for admissions. Students will be given free guidance on the entry requirements of universities worldwide. Information on bank loans will also be provided.

My name is Sapna Singh and I had utilized the services of Edwise to pursue my Post Graduate studies abroad. As I entered their office I was not sure what I wanted to do exactly. Since the first time they introduced me to the counselor, guiding me each step of the way, till the very end. Starting from suggesting the courses, short listing the country and finalizing the universities/colleges, she was an excellent guide. Another best feature of Edwise is that you can take coaching classes and register for IELTS or TOEFL from there itself. It helps a lot when all the facilities are provided under one roof. I am more than happy with the services provided there. The promptness of everyone and the helpful nature made the experience with them unforgettable .Thanks a lot for everything! Says sapna Singh from Humber College, Canada.

We encourage students to come for counseling to our experienced counselors and also encourage them to meet University Canada representatives and get more information. We help students right from short listing the best suited universities to applications to Visas.
