Canada
is the 2nd
largest country in the world. A country of Immigrants, a land of
rich natural resources, it is ranked by the United Nations amongst
the top 3 places in the world to live and study since last
consecutive 9 years . Canada is the 7th
largest economy in the world . Around 800,000 people of Indian origin
are currently resident in Canada. These factors have charmed Indian
student resulting in an increase of over 3 times in enrolments in
the period Jan- May 2010. Educational institutions are not officially
ranked in Canada. Infact most of the institutions are public
institutions. International students are flocking to Institutions to
pursue Masters Degree which requires 16 yrs of education or a Post
Graduate Certificate or Diploma which requires 15 yrs. As most
Masters degree programs require 16 years of education thus most
students from India enrol for PG programs in areas like business,
engineering, computers, science & IT, hospitality, tourism and
animation and engineering in canada
The
courses in Colleges and universities of canada are designed as per the requirements in
the Job market. Most of these programs offer Co- Operative education
programs, which is a work term of one semester providing opportunity
of working full time during their study. The major intakes for
studying in Canada are September and January. Students are allowed to
work part time for 20 hrs per week during the first semester on
campus and thereafter off campus. As per the recent immigration
rules, students graduating from an eligible 2 year programme from a
Canadian post secondary institutions will be eligible for an Open wok

They are not required to have a job offer at the time of
application of this work permit. Those who have studied for 1 year,
are eligible to work for 1 year on completion of the course.
Recently
there were some changes in the visa rules for international student
which have made Indian students visa application process more simple
limiting the documents and shortening the processing time. The
Canadian High Commission, have launched a new visa category designed
to expedite the visa process for college applicants with a view to
increasing the approval rate and reducing the time. This is called
the Students Partners Program (SPP). Under this Program, Students are
encourage to opt for Educational Bank loans to cover 80% of their
entire Educational expenses along with a good IELTS score . Thus
one can expect the full visa process to be completed in 3 weeks.
International
students are eligible for the Permanent Resident under the recently
launched Canadian Experience Class which
is
an immigration category for Canada's temporary foreign workers and
international graduates who wish to become Permanent Residents.
Temporary foreign workers and international students are ideal
candidates for Canadian Immigration (Permanent Residency).
The
above benefit has attracted a large number of students applying to
Canada resulting in several programs for September 2010 getting
full.
Edwise
however works with several institutions in Canada that still have
vacancies for the Sept2010 intake and thus students are advised to
rush with their current documents at the earliest.
Undoubtedly
an education from Canada translates into new skills, better job
prospects and higher salaries. Clearly the rewards of a Canadian
education will last you a lifetime.
