Overseas
Education
is
an amazing opportunity for students to study at a foreign destination
and be exposed to global cultures all in one place, on one campus.
Studying Abroad is popular among students today because as the world
is progressing, there are skills that are individuals have to possess
to be effective and excel in their field of study and career.
The
documents that are usually required by universities abroad are as
follows:
- Complete Application forms:
When
students apply to any university, they are required to submit an
application form. The application form may be downloaded from the
college website or be filled on the admission portal of the college
website. Some universities may charge a fee for an application form
while some universities don’t. It also depends on the country and
course you are opting for.
- Resume:
A resume is an essential part of an application because it indicates the work experience that the student has. For some courses like an MBA, students need to have work experience to be eligible for the course. The components of a resume that have to be included are Contact details i.e email address, residential address, mobile number and so on, Educational Qualifications, mainly school, college, undergrad, postgrad etc., Extra Curricular Activities, Accomplishments and Work Experience.
- Statement of Purpose:
A Statement of Purpose or SOP is a vital part of the application while applying to Universities abroad. The SOP describes your personality, your skills, interests and aspirations. As the student is an unknown individual to the admission committee at the University, the SOP is a way for students to add a personalized touch to their application. Students have to write their own SOP and not plagiarize it. If references are being used, they need to be mentioned.
- Attested copies of Academic documents:
For
university applications, the student has to submit attested copies of
Academic documents. The documents are scanned and sent with the
application online and physical copies are mailed to the university.
These documents include, Marksheets and Certificates of Std X, XII,
First Year to Final Year of Bachelor’s, Master’s, whichever are
applicable along with Other Diploma certificates.
- Admission Tests Certifications:
Universities
abroad have certain admission test criterias that have to be
fulfilled. Some courses require admission tests like GRE, GMAT, SAT
etc to secure admission. A requirement across universities are
English Proficiency Tests like IELTS, TOEFL, PTE, wherever
applicable. Certificates and scores of the same have to be submitted
with the applications.
- Letters of Recommendation:
A
Letter of Recommendation plays a vital role in the application
process for
Education
Abroad
as
it verifies the claims that the applicant makes and proves validation
to the admissions committee. Usually, an applicant advised to get 2-3
LORs as it mandatory for the application. LORs
from Professors/Department Head/Principal/Supervisor/Employer etc.
Can be submitted depending on course and wherever applicable. LORs
have to be printed on the letterheads of the respective organization
from where the student has acquired the recommendation from.
- Additional Certificates:
If
the student has attended any extra curricular activities on a larger
scale or completed certification courses, then the student should
attach attested copies of the certificates with the application as
well. Universities abroad appreciate students with certifications.
- Passport copies:
Along
with the application, it is very important to submit copies of your
passport as it helps in identifying the student and authenticity of
the application. Initially photographs had to be submitted but the
passport is now considered as an ID proof and as a documentation of
identity.
